The ingredients needed to make Rich coconut gujiya:
- Take 1 cup maida / all-purpose flour
- Prepare 1/2 cup coconut/khopra
- Get 2-3 tbsp sooji/rava rosted
- Get 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- Take 4-5 Cashew chopped
- Take 4-5 Almonds chopped
- Prepare 2-3 kismis(raisins)
- Take 1/4 tsp elaichi(Cardamom) powder
- Take as needed Ghee
- Make ready 3 cup Oil for fry
- Make ready as needed Warm water
Gujiya is a traditional Indian sweet often made during the festival of Holi. Gujiya is a sweet fried dumpling made from all purpose flour and filled with khoya/mawa, which is milk solids and nuts. Made all over India as a festival sweet, gujiyas (also known as nuereos or karanji) differ only slightly from region to region. This version uses the coconut filling.
Instructions to make Rich coconut gujiya:
- FOR STUFFING- In a pan add ghee and add coconut powder.
- Now add rosted suji and off the flame.
- Went the above mixture become cool add powdered sugar
- Then add in it all dry fruits.
- Then add elaichi powder mix well.
- Finally stuffing is prepared for gujiya.
- FOR DOUGH- In a large mixing bowl add maida
- Further add hot ghee over maida.
- Now add hot water over maida and make soft dough.
- Now cover it with a cloth and rest for 30 min.
- NOW FOR MAKING GUJIYA- Now take a small sized dough and make small ball from it.
- Further, roll to slightly small puris and cut to a round shape.
- Now place a tsp of gujiya stuffing in it.
- Now stich the edges together and press slightly.
- NOTE- Take care before folding the edges as the stuffing can come out.
- Furthermore, deep fry the gujiya in oil till golden brown.
- Make sugar syrup by adding 1 and 1/2 cup sugar in a pan and 1/2 cup water.
- Stir it continuously till it become little thick.
- But don't make it too thick.
- Add saffron in it.
- Add Gujiya when Sugar syrup become little cool
- Serve hot.
