Serve: Stir in the garam masala and fresh coriander. Place oil in a large pan, add the chicken & fry to seal all over. Add the spices & fry for a minute more. Add all the other ingredients except the coriander / cilantro, chickpeas & the lemon juice.

Instructions to make Peas shorba/ soup:
  1. Add ghee to kadai add jeera,bay leaf,onion,greenchilly,ginger garlic and saute add peas mix add 2cups of water or vegetable stock let it boil for 7,8 min.
  2. Sieve it separate stock,bay leaf and blend peas. Add peas paste to pan add enough stock to paste make it soup consistency add salt and pepper cook for one boil and serve it.

Add the chickpeas to the pan. This soup called Chorba or Shorba, has wonderful flavor and could be served as a light lunch by itself or as a starter to an Algerian feast. It showcases the many flavors of the area using the spice ras el hanout ( a typical north African spice mix) along with preserved lemons, and cilantro. Wash the cilantro and remove the stalks and then add to the soup. This soup is always served with a fresh naan.
