- Make ready 1 cup moong dal soaked 4 hours
- Take 1 cup desi ghee
- Prepare 1 cup sugar

- Heat a tbsp ghee fry nuts till pink remove on a plate set aside add more ghee spare 2 tbsp
- Add moong dal paste keep mixing the mixture will soon turn powdery
- Keep roasting on low to medium flame till golden brown
- Meanwhile heat 1 cup milk and 2 cups water add this hot mixture into roasted moong dal little by little slowly
- Keep mixing on low medium flame till all moisture is evaporated and halwa looks dry
- Add malai continue cooking till all malai is absorbed into halwa and it looks dry again then add sugar soon sugar will release water
- Mix well and cook till moisture s evaporated add fried nuts remaining 2 tbsp ghee and cardomon powder
- Cover and simmer till ghee seperates out from all sides and halwa looks grainy
- Halwa is ready serve warm take care jazak allah khair
Cooked and mashed mung lentils are roasted in ghee, cardamom, saffron and sugar to make an irresistibly sweet halwa that is served on special occasions in India. To make Moong Dal ka Halwa, yellow moong dal is soaked in water for a few hours and then added in a food processor to make a coarse paste.
