- Prepare 1 big bowl urad dal
- Make ready 1 small bowl Rajma
- Prepare 1 onion
- Prepare 2 tomato
- Make ready 1 small piece of ginger
- Take 10 gm butter
- Take 1 tbsp malai
- Make ready as needed green coriander for garnish
- Get Salt and spices as required
- Take 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Get to taste Garam masala
- Get 4 piece long
- Make ready 1 black Cardamom
- Make ready 2 piece cinnamon stick
Dal makhani literally means buttery dal. Punjabi Dhaba style Dal Makhani recipe made without rajma. Slow cooked dal makhani with butter and cream. Recipe with step by step pictures.
Steps to make Dal makhni:
- First put long,Elaichi and dalchini in cloth and close it.
- Put dal, rajma and cloth in cooker and boil them
- Put butter in pan and fry onion, tomato and ginger to make masala. Add salt, spices and turmeric.
- When they release oil add malai. 2 min mix malai
- Now add mixture of dal and rajma which was boiled in cooker and put that cloth separately.
- After five minutes off stove and serve dal makhni by decorating it with green coriander.
This dhaba / restaurant classic is my favorite. After having Dal Makhani at the ITC Bukhara - Royal Afghan, I have been wanting to recreate this classic. Dal makhani is a typical vegetarian dish originating from Punjab and widespread in India. It is prepared from black lentils, red beans, tomato puree, spices and clarified butter (ghee).
