  1. Take 2 cup toor and masoor dal mix
  2. Take 1 small chopped onions
  3. Take 2 small chopped tomatoes

  6. Make ready 1 tsp red chilli powder
  7. Make ready 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  8. Make ready 1 tsp sambhar masala powder

  12. Prepare 2 tsp curry leaves

  19. Get 3-4 whole red chillies (dry/wet)

Sultani Dal is actually a royal dal from the kitchens of the Nawabs of UP. This dal is rich and creamy in texture and is considered to be 'Shahi' because of its tantalizing aroma and hence was deemed fit for the kings back then. It is a shahi dal from the kitchens of the nawabs of uttar pradesh. Goes well with both rice/pulao or chapattis.

Instructions to make Dal sultani:
  1. Soak daal for one hour than boil it by adding asfoetida turmeric salt and water and give 4whistles
  2. Whisk curd and Mali together to form smooth consistency… As whistle gets released than smash daal with smasher.. And add mixture of Malai and curd. And bring dal boil for 5to7 minutes on high flame
  3. In kadai add ghee than add cummin seeds as it splitters add cloves break cardamom pods add in it saute it than add red chilli powder turmeric powder sambhar masala powder and tomatoes mix well add little water.. Let it cook for 5minutes on high flame
  4. As daal got mixed with curd and Malai add tomato masala in it if required add water and let it cook for 5 minutes..
  5. Now in a tadka pan add ghee than add cummin seeds and chopped garlic as garlic turns brown add curry leaves and slit green chillies. And spread on daal… Now again in tadka kadai add oil add whole red chillies… Fry it.. And add on daal
  6. Now daal is ready serve with some Malai over it sprinkle coriander and enjoy
