In Indian culture, it is considered one of the first solid foods that babies eat. I have used a mix of tur dal and moong dal to prepare this dal khichdi. I am trying and tasting dal khichdi for the first time.

Instructions to make Dal khichdi:
  1. First wash all the 3 Dal's add jeera and 1 tsp ginger paste. Let it boil and then take 3-4 whitsles
  2. On the other side cook the rice as you normally cook
  3. In a pan take 3 tbsp ghee add jeera, green chillies, red sukka chilli, ginger garlic paste, salt, onion fry till light brown add tomatoes
  4. Now add chaat masala, red chilli powder, cumin coriander powder, haldi, kasuri methi and aamchur powder and mix well till tomatoes become soft
  5. Next add dal to it and add 2 cups of water and let it cook for 5-8 minutes on medium flame.
  6. Add the cooked rice and mix well
  7. In a pan take ghee as it becomes hot add jeera and mustard seeds. Let it splutter
  8. Now add this tempering on hot dalkhichdi put coriander leaves & serve with achaar
