Add some water, cover the pan with a lid and cook for a few minutes. Then, add cooked tur dal and mix well. Sprinkle some mixed seeds for a nutritional twist. Instructions to make Mixed Vegetable Dal:
  1. First wash and cut the vegetables
  2. In a cooker add water little salt and vegetables for 1whistle
  3. Take out the vegetables along with remaining water, keep aside
  4. Wash both the dala and put into cooker.
  5. Add ginger garlic paste
  6. Turmeric powder, coriander powder
  7. Cummin seeds
  8. Chopped onion and tomatoes
  9. Curry leaves, coriander leaves and oil.
  10. Cook for 4-5 whistle or till dal get soft. Once done off the gas.
  11. Now grind the dal with hand blender or with dal masher.
  12. Now add vegetables along with water adjust salt. If dal is very thick add little more water and give a boil
  13. For tadka in a pan add 1table spoon ghee,cummin, mustard seeds
  14. Add sliced onion and curry leaves
  15. Add crushed garlic pods, slit green chillies and coriander leaves.
  16. Cook till onion gets golden colour
  17. Once done pour on dal and serve.
  18. Serve with roti or rice.

Instead of cooking the vegetables in oddles of oil, we have cooked them in water to reduce the use of oil, and to retain more of the nutrients.
