The ingredients needed to make Daliya Idli:
  1. Prepare 1 cup dalia(wheat rava)
  2. Prepare 1/2 cup Urad dal
  3. Prepare 1/2 tsp Methi seeds
  4. Prepare Salt as per taste
  5. Take Water as required for grinding
  6. Get For Filling:
  7. Make ready 2 Boiled potatoes
  8. Prepare 1/2 onion
  9. Get 1 chilli
  10. Take as needed Mustard and Jeera for seasoning
  11. Take 1 tbsp oil
Instructions to make Daliya Idli:
  1. Soak Urad dal and daliya separately for 3-4hrs. Add methi to Urad dal while soaking
  2. Wash and drain Urad dal and daliya. Grind soaked urad dal, add water as required, to a smooth batter. Keep it aside.
  3. Grind daliya coarsely so that it is grainy. Add daliya to the Urad dal batter. Add Salt and keep it for fermenting(overnight)
  4. In a pan, heat oil and add jeera,Mustard for seasoning, add a pinch of hing and mix well. Put onion slices and chilli and fry well.
  5. Mash the boiled potatoes and add it to the fried onions.. Add required salt and mix well. Filling is ready.(can replace boiled potato with grated paneer)
  6. Grease the idli stand. Put one laddle of batter, put a tbsp of potato mixture, cover it by adding another laddle of batter. Steam cook for 15mins.
  7. Serve the stuffed daliya idlis with chutney and gun powder.
