- For the saagu. Grind coconut, spices, 1 onion, chillies and fried gram to a smooth paste
- In a pressure cooker heat oil or ghee
- Add cumin seeds and let it splutter. Add curry leaves and a pinch of hing
- Add one onion sliced and saute
- Add the potato and sautee
- Add tomato and fry till it is mushy
- Add the ground paste ans fry it well
- Add the avarekalu and enough water
- Add salt and check for spice level
- Pressure cook for 3 whistle
- Let the pressure release naturally
- Check for salt and spice before serving hot with bhakri
