Steps to make Ottu Shyavige Upma With Ragi Coffee:
- Soak rice in enough water for 4 hours and wash nicely.
- Grind smoothly soaked rice with sufficient water and salt to taste.
- The consistency of batter should be thin like buttermilk.
- Take a heavy bottomed kadhai apply coconut oil, pour batter, add sufficient water.
- Saute continuously till the mixture forms single dumpling.
- This will take 15 minutes in low-medium flame.
- Allow it to cool a little and make cylindrical shaped dumplings.
- Place these on idli steamer and steam in medium flame for 20-25 minutes.
- Check the cookness, otherwise shyavige will be sticky.
- Now place in hot only in shyavige presser or chakli maker and press in to thin noodles.
- Heat a pan with coconut oil of 4 tsp.
- Add mustard seeds, red chilli, groundnut, urad dal and let it be splutter.
- Add curry leaves and chopped onion fry till translucent.
- Add salt to taste, turmeric powder a pinch, crushed shyavige.
- Fry for 2 minutes, garnish with coconut gratings and coriander leaves.
- Serve with ragi coffee.

- Heat water, add ragi flour, Coffee powder and Jaggery, mix well and bring it to boil finely.
- Add milk and serve.
