The ingredients needed to make Misal Pav:
  1. Take 2 cups moth sprouts
  2. Take 1 cup moong sprouts
  3. Take 1 potato cut into pieces
  4. Take 1 teaspoon salt

  7. Make ready 1 teaspoon cumin
  8. Take 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  9. Make ready 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  11. Get 4 cloves
  12. Prepare 1 inch cinnamon
  13. Get 1 star anise
  14. Take 2 cardamom
  15. Get 3 dry red chillies
  16. Get 2 tbsp desiccated coconut
  17. Take For misal -
  18. Prepare 4 tbsp oil
  19. Prepare 1/2 teaspoon mustard
  20. Take 1/4 teaspoon hing/ asafoetida
  21. Take 8-10 curry leaves
  22. Make ready 1 onion
  23. Get 2 teaspoon garlic paste
  24. Prepare 2 teaspoon ginger paste
  25. Prepare 1 teaspoon green chilli paste
  26. Take 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  27. Prepare 1 tablespoon red chilli powder
  28. Make ready 2 teaspoons cumin coriander powder
  29. Get 4 teaspoons spice mix
  30. Take As per taste salt
  31. Prepare 1 tomato
  32. Make ready 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  33. Make ready 4 tbsp coriander leaves
  34. Get 200 grams chivda
  35. Take 1/2 cup curd (optional)
  36. Prepare 8 pav
Instructions to make Misal Pav:
  1. Add sprouts and potato in a pressure cooker with one cup of water and salt and boil it until 2 whistles. Let it cool down itself.
  2. To make spice mix, take all the ingredients in a pan except from desiccated coconut and roast it on medium heat for 5 minutes. Now add dessicated coconut and mix it well and roast it for another 1 minute and turn off the heat. Let it cool down. Now grind it to a powder in a mixer.
  3. To make misal, heat oil in a pot and add mustard seeds. When it crackles, add hing, curry leaves and finely chopped onion. Cook it for 2 to 3 minutes until onion changes colour. Now add ginger, garlic and green chilli paste to it and cook for another 2 minutes. Now add turmeric, chilli powder, cumin coriander powder and prepared spice mix along with salt and mix everything well.
  4. Add chopped tomato to the onion and spice mix and mix it well and cook it until tomato is cooked nicely. Now add boiled sprouts to it and mix everything well. Add 4 cups of water and lemon juice. Let it cook on medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes.
  5. To serve misal pav first of all in a bowl, add prepared misal then top it up with chivda, chopped onion, coriander and curd. You can skip curd if you want. Serve it with pav.
