Steps to make Maska Bun(Without Yeast):
- Sieve in the flour in a big mixing bowl. Keep aside.
- In another bowl, add milk powder, salt, sugar, curd and eno. Activate eno by mixing.
- Add this mixture in Flour. Alternatively, instead of doing separately, you can directly add all ingredients in flour for easy kneading of dough.
- Activating eno separately makes the dough very sticky and is a tedious process to knead it smooth and involves more milk and water to get the right dough. But activating it like this makes the bun very smooth. Choose whichever option you feel comfortable with.
- Knead for minimum 5 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and make smooth balls and keep in greased pan.
- Milk wash the balls and bake at 180 degress in a pre heated oven for 25-30 minutes. Keep on middle rack with both rods on.
- Check after 20-25 minutes with tooth pick from centre if the buns are done.
- Once the buns are out of oven, their top will be hard. Immediately brush them with butter nicely and cover with wet cloth for 15-20 minutes.
- After that, your buns will be soft and ready to eat😍 please note: they will be bit heavy and dense because of yeast absence.
- For chaayos style maska bun, butter them generously from both sides or you can lightly cook on tawa before buttering. Enjoy with tea and coffee:)
