  6. Add the clarified butter in the kadhai with the rest of the oil put whole cumin seeds and 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida and bay leaf.
  7. When it starts releasing aroma add the 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste and saute, add the dry ingredients with little water and saute till it releases oil, add salt and sugar according to the taste, add the fried potatoes and water for the gravy.
  8. When the potatoes are almost done add the fried dal cabbage cake, cook it till you get the required gravy add garam masala, switch off the flame.
  9. Serve with hot steam rice
