The ingredients needed to make Sambhar:
  1. Prepare 1 cup tur /arhar dal
  2. Take 1 tsp salt +1 tsp salt
  3. Take 1 tsp turmeric powder
  4. Prepare 1/4 cup cubes each of bottle gourd, pumpkin,brinjal &tomato
  5. Get 1 tbsp beans pieces
  6. Get pieces Few drumsticks
  7. Make ready 3 tbsp sambhar masala
  8. Get 1/2 cup tamarind water
  9. Take 1 tsp red chilli powder
  10. Get to taste Salt
  11. Prepare 1 tbsp oil for frying vegetables
  12. Take For tampering:
  13. Take 2 tbsp oil
  14. Get 1 tsp mustard seeds
  15. Get 4-6 curry leaves
  16. Take 3 whole red chillies

Idli Sambar Recipe with stepwise photos. One of the best tiffin sambar recipe i must say. This hotel style idli sambar was damn good with the idlis. The wedding sambhar is thicker than the variety made at home and also uses more vegetables.

Instructions to make Sambhar:
  1. Boil tur dal along with salt and turmeric powder.
  2. Heat oil in a pan,add onion and fry for 2 minutes.Add all vegetables,saute.
  3. Add salt and 1/4cup water,cover and cook for 2-3minutes till veggies are soft.
  4. Add boiled tur dal to veggies,add 3cups water and add redchilli powder and sambhar masala.Let it boil for 10 minutes on low flame.
  5. Now dal is thick,add tamarind water and adjust sambhar consistency.Put off the flame.
  6. For tampering,heat oil in a tadka pan,add red chillies and mustard seeds.When splatter,add curry leaves.
  7. Saute for 10 second and add to sambhar.
  8. Serve hot.

The main feature of authentic food of Tamil-Brahmin community is Satvik food influenced by traditional. You know nothing would disappoint you more to see a plate of puffy hot idlis or piping hot dosa without its must-have accompaniment-sambhar. what a yummy sambhar! love to have it with rice and some curd chilies. Ive not heard of keerai sambhar before. nutritious and yummy. The speciality of this sambhar is that it is made with minimal oil and loads of vegetables which enhance its nutritive value. Alternatively, relish this sambhar with steamed rice to make a wholesome meal.
