Hii Friends,Today's recipe is one of my favourite Payasam "Broken Wheat Kheer" It is very healthy and rich consisting with lots of dry fruits, jaggery, milk. Broken Wheat Kheer is a very healthy and tasty kheer (pudding) prepared with cracked wheat (dalia), jaggery and milk. You can prepare this guilt free (no sugar) payasam for any festivals or special occasions. It is absolutely delicious and easy to make.
Instructions to make Porridge/ broken wheat kheer:
- Prepare daliya, as I suggested in my previous post (fried daliya). That is the perfect recipe for prepare khilme khil daliya.
- In a deep saucepan boil 2 cup of milk. When milk is boiling slow down the gas and add daliya. Cook it on medium flame until you get your desired consistency.
- Now add sugar and crushed dry fruits. Cook for 5 minutes more. Turn off the gas and serve hot. This is the complete breakfast for everybody. You can use jaggery or dates instead of sugar.
- This breakfast is full of nutrition and taste too.
Allow it to almost boil but do not keep boiling for any length of time. Broken wheat payasam is simplest and my favorite. Broken wheat is very healthy and also any dish prepared using broken wheat is good for diabetic patient too. In Udupi most desserts are prepared using coconut milk instead of regular milk. Broken wheat kheer is renowned for being a low-calorie dessert, perfect for our diet chart.
