  1. Wash the daal and take it in a Pressure Cooker. Add water, turmeric powder and salt to taste
  2. Pressure cook it on low flame for 10-15 mins (2-3 whistles)
  3. Take a frying pan and put it on flame. Add ghee in it and allow it to become a little hot.
  4. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Stir for few secs until it starts crackling…
  5. Add the onions now and stir it till it becomes a light brown. Then add the tomatoes and ginger garlic paste. Stir it for approx 5 mins to allow the tomatoes to cook well…
  6. Add all the spices one by one and stir it for around 5 mins to save it from sticking to the pan bottom (add a splash of water if you see it's sticking)
  7. Now add the already cooked daal and mix it well. Keep it on flame for 1-2 mins and it's ready…
  8. Pour it in a serving bowl… Sprinkle some fresh chopped Coriander leaves and serve it hot.
