Instructions to make Arhar Dal Tadka:
- Boil the dal with water, turmeric and salt. Add cloves too.
- In a deep pan, take some oil, add Asafoetida, cumin seeds, ginger and garlic. Sauté for a few min and add onion to it. Add curry leaves and Sauté for another 5 min until it turns brown.
- Add tomatoes and let them be soft. Add a pinch of salt if needed. Add sugar or jaggery and tamarind paste.
- Add this Tadka to dal. Boil well. Add water if it’s thick.
- Add coriander leaves and let it cook for another few minutes.
- Take ghee in a small pan and heat well. Switch off the flame and add red chilli powder and dried chillies to it. Add this Tadka before serving.
- This Dal goes very well with jeera rice or simple butter chapati.
