  2. Make ready 3/4 cup besan

Mirchi Bajji (chili cutlet) or Mirchi Bada is a spicy Indian snack consisting of chili (mirchi ) and potato or cauliflower stuffing, served hot with tomato sauce or occasionally with mint and tamarind chutney. Banana pepper is used for making mirchi bada. The mirchi bajji they used to sell in the beach was one of my favorite snacks. However she never used to make the elusive mirchi bajji.

Instructions to make Mirchi bajji:
  1. Rinse the chilli well and pat them dry with kitchen towel.
  2. Slit at the Center and remove the seeds.
  3. Now roast groundnuts, sesame seeds, grated coconut, coriander seed,cumin seed on medium low flame for 2 to 3 minutes. Switch off the gas and let it cool down.
  4. Grind all above ingredients and tamarind coarsely. Add salt, red chilli powder, sambar powder (optional). Mix well. Stuffing is ready.
  5. Now take a besan and rice flour in a large mixing bowl. Add turmeric, red chilli powder,asafoetida,ajwain, salt and baking soda. Mix well.
  6. Add 1/4 cup water and mix well. Add more water if required to make thick batter. Pour 1 tbs hot oil and mix well.
  7. Dip the green chilli and coat it with the besan batter.
  8. Heat the oil in a pan or kadhai on medium flame.
  9. Deep fry the besan coated chilli in the hot oil. Fry till it becomes golden and crisp. Mirchi Bajji is ready to serve.
