  19. Prepare Pinch black pepper powder
  20. Take as required Coriander leaves for garnishing

Toor Dal made with onions, tomato's, garlic and ginger. Topped with a browned garlic and hing Tadka !! 🙂. Dal tadka or Tadka Dal is one of the most basic yet one of the most popular dal recipes served in any Indian Restaurant. It is called Restaurant style Tadka Dal which is made with split pigeon pea and split chickpeas.

Instructions to make Dal Tadka (Goan style):
  1. First wash and soak red lentils for 40 min. Then take a cooker add red lentils, salt, water and cook till come a boil. Then remove the impurities.
  2. Then add onion, tomato, ginger, green chilli, turmeric powder and asafoetida.
  3. Then take 5 whistles.Then take a pan heat oil add cumin seeds, asafoetida dry red chilli, curry leaves, garlic saute well.
  4. Then mix dal in tadka and seasoning with salt, sugar and black pepper powder.
  5. Then garnish with coriander leaves.Goan style dal is ready to serve.

This humble dal can turn any meal into a Festive meal. Serve this Dhaba Style Dal Tadka with Jeera rice, mixed pickle and roasted papad to complete your meal. For tempering, you can use ghee instead of oil. Some people garnish this dal with some cream as well. If you do not have pressure cooker then you can cook dal in a pot or in any vessel with good.
