  1. First wash chicken properly and marinate with salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder & oil. Keep aside for at least 1 hr.
  2. Fry 2 potatoes till light brown.
  3. Take another pan add mustard oil/ refine oil. When oil got heat add sugar. When sugar starts to melt and colour changes, add all the whole spices(bay leaf, cumin seed, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, black pepper). Fry for sometime.
  4. Ads finely chopped onion, sliced green chili,cook till onion turns to golden brown.
  5. Then add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder& red chilli powder. Fry masala until raw smell of ginger garlic goes away.
  6. To the cooked masala, add finely chopped tomatoes, with salt, garam masala powder, coriander powder & cumin powder.Mix well & cook until tomatoes becomes tender. If required add some water to avoid burning of the masala
  7. After oil separates from the masala, add marinated chicken and required salt and saute.
  8. Cover and cook chicken in it's own juices for 10-15 minutes.
  9. When the juices dry up add fried potatoes saute for 1 min. Then add hot water (as per gravy)
  10. Cover it and cook for another 10-15 minutes.
  11. After 15 check the potatoes and chicken, then add chicken masala powder & chopped coriander leaves. Cook for another 1-2 minutes
  12. Goes well with Steamed rice, roti or paratha
