The ingredients needed to make Samosa Chaat:
- Make ready Chana
- Make ready 1 can white chickpeas
- Take Half cup onion
- Get 3 chillies (add more for extra spiceness)
- Make ready Cut small tomatoes (optional)
- Make ready Bunch coriander chopped
- Prepare 2 pinches salt
- Make ready 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
- Take 1/2 tsp curry powder
- Take 1/2 tsp chilli powder
- Prepare 1/2 tsp masala mix
- Make ready Vegetable oil for cooking
- Get Tamarind Sauce (if making from scratch)
- Get Bunch natural tamarind
- Take Boil water
- Prepare Pinch salt
- Get Curd
- Prepare 3 tbs yoghurt
- Prepare 1 tsp sugar (alter to taste for extra sweetness)
- Prepare Extra
- Take Fried samosas
- Prepare Fry plain samosa pads
- Take Sev (sanasur)
- Get Bit of lemon juice
- Make ready Note:
- Get Steps 1-4 are for the chana
- Get Step 5 is making tamarind sauce (if needed, it’s easier to buy from store)
- Prepare Step 6 is curd sauce
- Get Step 7-8 is assembling all
Instructions to make Samosa Chaat:
- Heat 2tbs oil in a pan. Add onions and chillies. Add to pan and allow to sauté for few minutes
- Add washed chickpeas and mix nicely. After this add your tomatoes (optional) and cook.
- After mixing add spices listed in ingredients and mix well. Add little bit of water and allow to simmer.
- Make sure your samosas have been fried at this point and cut them in small pieces (Does not need to be precise) and add them in the pan, and mix a bit until cooked
- For the tamarind sauce, get a bunch of tamarind and soak in boiling water for 5 mins. This will allow the seeds to be removed and drain the liquids out to give the tangy taste. Sieve and remove any hard bits. Add pinch of salt and mix.
- For the curd, get 3 tbs of youghurt and 1 tbs sugar (i used 1.5 tbs of sugar for extra sweetness). Use the ratio 3:1 tbs for youghurt : sugar. Mix nicely.
- Once steps 1-6 are done, grab a plate / bowl of your choice. Add your desired amount of cooked chickpeas on the plate, followed by broken FRIED samosa pads. Then, add your desired amount of tamarind sauce (tangy flavour) and curd (very sweet). Alter to taste and liking. You can always add more after
- Top with a bit of chopped onions, chopped coriander, extra chillies, bit of lemon juice and the sev (sanasur). It is now ready to serve! Enjoy with a cold drink or cup of masala chai.
