- Get 1.5 cups Urad Dal (White)
- Prepare 1/2 cup Dhuli Moong Dal (Yellow)
- Take 1/4 cup Arhar Dal
- Make ready 1/4 cup Chana Dal
- Make ready 1/4 tsp Asafoetida Powder
- Prepare 8-10 Peppercorns
- Get 2 cloves
- Prepare 1.5 inch ginger piece, peeled
- Get 2-3 Green Chillies
- Make ready 10-12 roughly chopped Curry Leaves
- Make ready 2 tbsp chopped fresh Coriander Leaves
- Prepare 2 finely chopped Onions
- Take 2 tbsp Rice Flour (optional)
- Make ready to taste Salt
- Prepare as required Oil to fry
Instructions to make Dal Vadas:
- Wash & soak all the Dals in some water for 6 hours.
- Drain, reserve the water.
- Add dal mix in a mixer jar, ginger, peppercorns, cloves, green chillies, asafoetida, salt, just a little of the reserved water. Grind till smooth in batches.
- Add chopped onions, curry leaves and coriander leaves, mix. If the batter is a little runny, you can add 2 tbsp rice flour.
- Deep fry small blobs of the ready batter in hot oil on medium heat till golden brown & crisp.
- Serve hot. Enjoy with Chutney of choice or Ketchup.
