Steps to make Dal vada:
  1. Wash and soak the dal for 4-5 hrs. Drain the water and keep aside. There should be no water otherwise vada will break while frying.
  2. Keep aside 2 tbsp dal and rest add in a grinder add dal, green chillies and ginger and grind to a coarse paste.
  3. Remove in a bowl and add chopped onion, 2 tbsp dal, chopped coriander, chopped curry leaves, jeera, salt to taste, red chilli powder, garam masala,hing and rice flour.
  4. Mix everything well. Make round balls and press it slightly and give it a tikki shape.
  5. Keep the oil for frying. As the oil is hot fry the vadas on medium flame till nice golden in colour.
  6. Serve hot with chutney or tomato ketchup.
