- Prepare 1 cup rava/ sooji
- Get 2 1/2 cups water(for rava)
- Take 1/2 cup moong dal
- Take 1 cup water(for dal)
- Make ready 1 tsp cumin/jeera seeds
- Take 1 tbsp pepper corns
- Get 1 tsp chopped green chillies
- Take 10 cashews (broken)
- Get 2 tbsp ginger (chopped)
- Prepare 2 sprig curry leaves
- Get To taste salt
- Get 3 tbsp ghee
- Make ready 2 + 2 tbsp oil
Steps to make Rava Pongal:
- Wash moong dal twice in water. In a pressure cooker add oil and roast dal till aromatic and add water. Cook for 3 whistles.
- Keep all ingredients ready. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a nonstick pan add cumin seeds and pepper wait till it cracks.
- Next add cashews, ginger, green chillies and curry leaves. Roast till cashews are golden brown.
- Now add the rava and fry in medium flame for 5 minutes. Add the cooked dal and water. Combine everything so that there are no lumps.
- Cover and cook for a minute. Add ghee and mix till it forms into a lumpy mass. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
