The ingredients needed to make Gulab Jamun:
  1. Prepare 3/4 cup milk powder
  2. Make ready 1/2 cup maida
  3. Make ready 2 tbsp ghee
  4. Get 3/4 tsp baking powder
  5. Make ready 1/4 cup milk + extra as required
  6. Take 2 cups sugar
  7. Get 2 cups water
  8. Take 1 tsp cardamom powder
  9. Prepare 5-7 saffron strands
  10. Take 1 tsp lemon juice
  11. Get As requried ghee/oil for frying
Steps to make Gulab Jamun:
  1. Mix milk powder,maida baking powder and ghee.
  2. Add milk powder and mix it.Do not knead it.
  3. Then add little milk and knead the soft dough and let it rest for 10 mins.
  4. In a pot add sugar & water.
  5. Let the sugar melt then add cardamom powder & saffron and lemon juice.
  6. As sugar melts boil it for 5 mins on medium flame, then switch off the flame.
  7. Make small sized, crack free balls.
  8. Heat the ghee/oil and fry in medium hot oil on low flame.Stir gently & fry till golden brown colour.
  9. Then put into sugar syrup and cover the lid for around 10-15 mins.
  10. Gulab jamun is ready.
