- Get 3 boiled and mashed roughly potatoes
- Get 1 green chilli +3 garlic chopped

- Prepare 1 tbs roasted peanuts
- Get 1/2 cup grated coconut
- Prepare 1 tsp white sesame seeds
- Get 1 tbs red chilli powder
- Get to taste Salt

Batata Vada Recipe - About Batata Vada Recipe: A popular snack from the streets of Maharashtra. Batata translates into potato in English. Mashed masaledar potatoes coated in a thick besan (chickpea flour) batter and deep fried till golden. Served with a tangy chutney, batata vada is a street food delight tat you can easily prepare at home during the monsoon season or usually as an evening.
Instructions to make Batata vada:
- For potatoes : boil peel and roughly mash potatoes heat 1 tbsp oil in a a pan add mustard seeds when crackle add crushed 1 chilli, 3 garlic pods and ginger add and saute till raw smell goes add curry leaves.and saute add boiled mashed potatoes add salt and little turmeric saute for one minute and mix all well. Now add fresh coriander leaves and switch off the gas,
- Keep aside to little cool now make ball from this potatoes mixture make 6 ball from them.on the other side take gram flour in a bowl by adding salt and little turmeric make a smooth lump free batter it should be little thick to coat all vada well.
- Heat enough oil in a Kadhai dip ball in gram flour batter and deep frying the batata vada till golden brown.On the other hand make garlic chutney
- In 1 tsp of oil saute garlic only saute for a minute add peanut,sesame seeds,grated coconut till golden brown lastly add red chilli powder and salt when little cool grind in the mixie grinder
- Now assemble the pav first spread green chutney then garlic chutney, place vada and again garlic chutney on it little press it and serve with chutney and green chilli,yummy,mouth-watering batata vada is ready to eat enjoy with your family and guests green chutney is mostly available in all houses.
Batata Vada is now ready for serving. Serve hot with tea and green chutney / tomato ketch up. Tips and Variations: Mashed potato mixture will turn sticky if boiled potato has excessive moisture. If mashed potato has excess moisture, cook it in a non-stick pan until excess moisture evaporates. Transfer it to a bowl, let it cool for few minutes.
