The ingredients needed to make Sambhar dosa:
  1. Get 1/3 cup root dal
  2. Get 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  3. Prepare 1 cup chopped mixed vegetables
  4. Make ready 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  5. Make ready 5-6 curry leaves
  6. Take 2 dry chillies
  7. Take 1 medium onion chopped
  8. Get 1 tbsp sambhar powder
  9. Prepare 1/2 tbsp seedless tamarind
  10. Prepare 1 tomato chopped
  11. Make ready 1 tbsp oil
  12. Take 1 cup+1 cup water
  13. Get 1 tablespoon finely chopped coriander leaves
  14. Take to taste Salt

From the smallest roadside hotel to the classiest Indian restaurants around the globe, 'Idli, Vada. Vada sambar and idli sambar are popular for breakfast or an evening snack in the south Indian states. Sambar is also served as a side dish for dosa.

Steps to make Sambhar dosa:
  1. Prepare Tamarind Juice – soak 1/2 tablespoon tamarind in 3-tablespoons of hot water for 10-15 minutes, mash it with a spoon and strain it using a sieve and discard the solids.
  2. Add toor dal, turmeric powder and 1 cup water in 3-4 liters capacity steel or aluminum pressure cooker. Add mixed vegetables in a small container, place it inside the pressure cooker and close the cooker lid. Pressure cook over medium flame for 3-4 whistles. For this recipe we used 1/4 cup potato, 1/4 cup brinjal, 1/4 cup carrot and 1/4 cup French beans as mixed vegetables.
  3. Turn off the flame and allow it to stand until pressure comes down mash the dal
  4. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds add curry leaves dry chillies for 15 second
  5. Add chopped onion and add tamarind juice cook for 3 minutes
  6. Add chopped tomatoes add sambhar powder cook for minute
  7. Add cooked and mashed dal boiled vegetables water and salt
  8. Mix cook for 7 minutes
  9. Your dish is ready
