  1. Get 1 litre milk
  2. Get 1/4 kg jaggery

Steps to make Akkaravadisal:
  1. Wash 3/4cup raw rice along with 3tbsp moong dal. In a heavy bottomed vessel add 1 litre milk. Am using Bronze pot to make akkaravadisal. Preparing Akkaravadisal in bronze vessel gives unique taste. Add washed rice and moong dal.
  2. Cook on low heat, stirring frequently, until rice and Dal becomes mushy. After 40 minutes rice and dal mashed completely. Add 1/4kg of jaggery, stir it continuosly. Add 1/4cup ghee and stir well. Add 1/4tsp cardamom powder, pinch of edible camphor.
  3. Heat a pan with 1/4 cup ghee. Add 7-10 cashews and roast. Now add roasted cashews along with ghee in the Akkaravadisal and mix well. Add 2 tbsp ghee and switch off the flame. Now our Super Creamy Akkaravadisal is ready.

It is more or less similar to Sakkara Pongal, but fully cooked in milk, loaded with ghee and the addition of edible. Akkaravadisal (Akkara Adisil) is an Authentic Iyengar recipe. Akkaravadisal: a variation to the traditional sweet pongal. It is a delicious and creamy rice pudding sweetened with jaggery and flavored with saffron, cardamom and camphor. I am not a sweet lover, but during my childhood, I have memories of eating this Akkaravadisal at Srivilliputtur.
